Stationeers solar and battery calculator per planet
How much power a panel delivers over a whole day, when it gets dark and how many batteries bridge the night. Calculated with the sun path the game simulates for each world.

Inputs
The year is split into 12 sections. Day and night length and the distance to the sun change a lot on some worlds.
Whatever runs around the clock, as shown in the game’s W display.
How it is calculated
irradiance I = solar constant ÷ distance² (1367 W/m², Vulcan 2402 W/m²), no damping by the atmosphere
panel: raw = I · area · weather; P = raw ÷ log₁.₄(max(1.4; raw ÷ Pmax)), base 1.6 during weather
alignment: tracking 100 % from 15° sun elevation, below 1 − 2 · sin((15° − h) ÷ 2); flat 1 − 2 · sin(zenith ÷ 2)
storage = largest deficit (load − yield) over the day; energy in J = W display · seconds ÷ 0.5
The sun elevation comes from a rebuild of the game’s orbit simulation (axis, start location, orbit). A game day lasts a fixed 1200 s, about 1297 s on the Moon. Terrain and building shadows are not included. The W display in the game equals joules per 0.5 s tick.
| Section | Day | Daylight share | Sun distance | Irradiance (W/m²) | tracking | flat |
|---|
| World | Irradiance (W/m²) | Peak | tracking | flat | Daylight share | Day length |

Values for one 2 × 2 m panel without weather, averaged over all sections of the year. Peak = highest value in the year.
