Geothermal power. On hot planets the Steam Drill pulls steam out of the ground, the Steam Tank stores it and the Steam Generator turns it into power and water. All three have custom 3D models, a four-page display, LEDs, a work light above the control panel and full IC10 control.
Steam Drill
- Sits on the footprint of the deep miner, either on a frame platform or straight on the terrain.
- Only works on hot planets: night temperature of at least 100 °C, or lava. That means Vulcan, Venus and hot modded planets.
- Drills down to bedrock, then keeps the pipe at the set target pressure. Up to 5 mol/s at 500 W, no ore.
Steam Tank
- 20,000 L, insulated, fits on one frame and works as a flow-through tank: in on the left, out on the right.
- Check valve at the inlet, charging compressor, pressure regulator at the outlet, condensate drain and relief valve. It never bursts.
Steam Generator 10 kW
- Turbine, condenser and generator on a single frame. 30 % of the released heat becomes power. Only 10 % of the steam leaves as water (60 °C), the rest evaporates in the cooler – the share is adjustable.
- For 10 kW it needs about 4 mol of steam per second on Vulcan and about 2.3 on Venus.
- AUTO or MANUAL governor and a steam valve.
Steam ports only accept gas pipes, water and condensate ports only liquid pipes. All model labels, displays and device names appear in German or English, depending on the game language. The server and all players need the mod.

Generator, drill and tank can now only be heard up to 15 m. The generator fan used to barely fade, so many generators were still audible 50 m away. Running sound a bit quieter. New settings HoerweiteM and LautstaerkeProzent (0 = mute).

The generator now only releases 10 % of the steam as water (setting WasserAnteilProzent) instead of turning every mol of steam into a mol of water. Model labels appear in German or English depending on the game language. Fixed: on Venus the tank, generator and drill caught fire – all steam devices are now fireproof, and the relief valve vents in small steps. Device names stay after switching the game language.

The steam drill produces nothing on Mars.
It only works on hot planets: night temperature of at least 100 °C, or lava, so Vulcan, Venus and hot modded planets. The LED "Kalter Planet" (cold planet) shows this. If you want it anyway, add the world ID to ErlaubtePlaneten; for Mars that is Mars2.
How much steam does the generator need for 10 kW?
About 4 mol per second on Vulcan and about 2.3 on Venus, because the steam is hotter there. One drill delivers up to 5 mol/s at full speed.
