Cover images up to date right away and more honest visitor statistics
New cover images and icons now show up immediately instead of weeks later. The visitor statistics only count real page opens and filter out programs pretending to be a browser.
Two small improvements behind the scenes:
- Images up to date right away: Your browser keeps images for up to 30 days so the site loads quickly. Until now that meant you might see the old cover image with the old version number for weeks after a mod update. Cover images, thumbnails and icons now carry a marker that changes with every edit – a new image is loaded immediately, an unchanged one still comes from the cache.
- More honest visitor statistics: A visit is only counted when a page is really opened – not when the browser preloads it or fetches content in the background. Programs that pretend to be a normal browser and fetch hundreds of pages a day stop being counted from the 300th view. The statistics stay cookie-free and anonymous as before; the details are in the privacy policy, which I have updated accordingly.
