Overview
Electrolyzer (StructureElectrolyzer) in Stationeers: device, hash -1668992663, 10 W. With build steps, 78 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.
The electrolyzer takes water from a liquid line at its input and releases gas into a gas pipe at its output. Because there is only one gas output, hydrogen and oxygen come out together, both at 20 °C.
What the game code defines:
- Ratio: 3 mol of water become 2 mol of hydrogen and 1 mol of oxygen – the reverse of the game's hydrogen–oxygen combustion. So one litre of water (55.6 mol) gives about 37 mol of hydrogen and 18.5 mol of oxygen.
- Power: 3,600 W while splitting, 50 W idle. The 10 W in the fact sheet are only the prefab's starting value; in operation the code uses these two figures.
- Throughput: with water at 20 °C it splits about 0.73 mol per tick, just under 1.5 mol per second. Warmer water goes slightly faster.
- Switching on:
Onalone is not enough;Modemust be 1 (Active). If there is no water at the input, it drops to idle by itself;Activatereports whether it is currently working.
It needs a frame below it and has separate ports for data and power plus a slot for a programmable chip. You can measure both sides via …Input and …Output; it has no inner chamber of its own.
At the output, fuel (hydrogen) and oxidiser (oxygen) sit together in one pipe. A spark is enough, and above 573.15 K (300 °C) it even ignites by itself with more than 1 mol of hydrogen. Keep the line cool and away from wall heaters.
You have to separate the two gases with a Filtration, for example using a Filter (Oxygen). A calculation: for 293 mol of oxygen – enough for 22 % in a room of four cells – you need 879 mol of water, about 15.8 litres. That takes around 1,200 ticks or 10 minutes and costs about 2.2 MJ of power.
It is built in three stages: place the Kit (Atmospherics), insert two Kit (Pipe), fit two cable coils with the screwdriver. A control program and everything about the water supply are in Electrolysis and water: winning oxygen and hydrogen.
