Overview

Filtration (StructureFiltration) in Stationeers: device, hash -348054045, 10 W. With build steps, 109 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.

The filtration unit takes gas at its input and splits it: whatever the installed filters catch goes to the output (“Filtered” in game), everything else to the waste output (“Unfiltered”). That is how you pull carbon dioxide out of room air, for example, or separate a mix taken from the atmosphere.

It has three slots: two for gas filters (such as the Filter (Carbon Dioxide)) and one for a programmable chip. With the chip inside, the control runs directly in the filtration unit without a separate IC housing. Slot logic gives FilterType and Quantity per slot. A filter with Quantity 0 no longer catches anything – its gas then ends up at the waste output.

For it to work, it needs On = 1 and Mode = 1 (Active), and all three pipes must be connected. Each tick it takes at least as much gas as 1,000 kPa in 10 litres amounts to – about 4.1 mol at 20 °C – and more with a large pressure drop. It does not need a pump in front; it pushes even against pressure. So make sure both outputs can drain. If the target gas at the input drops below 0.1 %, it takes the last remainder out of the input network in one go.

All three pipes can be measured separately: …Input, …Output (filtered) and …Output2 (waste) give pressure, temperature, total moles and the fraction of every gas. Power and data have separate ports. On top of the 10 W base draw, filtering adds up to 100 W, in full from 1,000 kPa at the input.

It is built in three stages: place the atmospherics kit, insert two pipe kits, fit two cable coils with the screwdriver. Filters, their lifetime and a monitoring program are covered in Filtration: separating gases, changing filters, getting rid of waste gases.
