Overview
Solar Panel (Flat) (StructureSolarPanelFlat) in Stationeers: device, hash 1968102968, up to 500 W output. With build steps, 8 IC10 logic values and…
The flat panel has the same 500 W rating as the Solar Panel, but is only 0.23 m high and occupies 3 × 3 small cells in one layer – the standard panel needs 3 × 3 × 3. That makes it fit on roofs and into low corners. The logic values are the same: Horizontal, Vertical, Charge, Ratio and Maximum. It cannot be turned, though: according to the game data it has no pivot, and written angles move nothing. The surface always faces the way you built it – lying flat, that means straight up.
It is built from the Kit (Solar Panel Basic) and one glass sheet. The same kit also builds the Solar Panel (Angled). It is removed with the crowbar and the hand drill.
What a fixed flat position costs is shown by the Solar calculator under the alignment "fixed, flat facing up". The sun's distance from the zenith then counts fully against the efficiency (1 − 2 · sin(deviation ÷ 2)):
- Mars: about 64 W as a yearly mean instead of about 250 W when tracked.
- Moon: about 125 W, because the sun stands almost vertical at noon.
- Mimas: 0 W – the sun climbs at most 34° there, so the panel is always almost 60° off or more.
Because it lies fixed, plan considerably more area than with tracking. In a storm it takes damage like every normal panel; the heavy version Solar Panel (Heavy Flat) is protected against that. How to align an array is in Solar arrays: alignment, tracking, day and night.
