Overview
Wall Cooler (StructureWallCooler) in Stationeers: device, hash -739292323, 10 W. With build steps, 43 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.
The wall cooler hangs on a wall and has two ports: a gas pipe and a shared port for power and data. Every tick it removes up to 1,000 J from the room air and passes it to the gas in the pipe. At two ticks per second that is about 2 kW.
Three rules from the game data:
- It only works when the room holds more than 6.3 kPa.
- It gets worse the larger the difference between pipe gas and room. It runs best with a cooling loop just below room temperature, not with an ice-cold one. At best efficiency it draws about 1,010 W.
- It has no target value it holds by itself.
Settingdoes appear in the logic list, but it does not regulate a target temperature with it. You have to switch it on and off from outside, ideally with a chip and a Gas Sensor.
The heat does not vanish – afterwards it sits in the pipe network. So the network needs gas and a way to shed the heat, for example Pipe Convection Radiator outdoors or an Air Conditioner.
A calculation: a room of four cells holds about 1,330 mol of air at normal pressure. At roughly 20.7 J per mole and kelvin that is 27,500 J per kelvin. At 2 kW the temperature drops by one kelvin in just under 14 seconds – walls and devices not counted.
For liquid loops there is the Liquid Wall Cooler. A thermostat program is in Heating and cooling: wall heater, wall cooler, air conditioner, radiators.
