Overview
Wall Heater (StructureWallHeater) in Stationeers: device, hash 24258244, 10 W. With build steps, 8 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.
The wall heater hangs on a wall and gives 1,000 J of heat per tick to the air in front of it, about 2 kW. It only has a port for power and data, no pipe. According to the game data its base draw is 10 W.
It only works while the room holds more than 6.3 kPa and the air is below 2,500 K. It has no target value: the logic only offers On and Lock. So you regulate the temperature yourself, with a Gas Sensor and a chip that switches it on and off as needed.
The wall heater makes a spark every tick. If its room contains fuel (methane, hydrogen) and an oxidiser (oxygen, nitrous oxide, ozone) of at least 0.00001 mol each, it burns. Diluting with nitrogen changes nothing – the game has no minimum oxygen share.
The spark has a side effect: a gas sensor in the same room reports fire through Combustion all the time. If you want to detect real fires, also watch for a quick rise in Temperature.
A calculation: a room of four cells at normal pressure needs about 27,500 J per kelvin. The heater manages that in just under 14 seconds – walls and devices not counted. On Vulcan you never need it, as nights there get no colder than about 127 °C. On Mars the outside air drops to about −50 °C at night.
A thermostat with heater and cooler is in Heating and cooling: wall heater, wall cooler, air conditioner, radiators.
