An arc furnace for large amounts with its own 3D model: ore in, ingots out, whole stacks at a time instead of one piece after another.
What it does
- Smelts everything the arc furnace can: iron, copper, gold, silver, lead, nickel and silicon into ingots, biomass into charcoal. Recipes from XML mods work too.
- No alloys; that is what the Electric Furnace T1 & T2 is for.
- Every ore type goes into its own buffer with room for two full ingot stacks. When a buffer is full, smelting pauses.
- Coal, cobalt, uranium, ice and anything else passes through unchanged.
Casting
- Cast amount from 5 to 5000, at most one full ingot stack: up to 5000 with Barren Stacks, otherwise 500.
- MANUAL (default): it only smelts, the red GIESSEN (cast) button casts exactly the cast amount of the selected type.
- AUTO: it casts by itself as soon as a type reaches the cast amount, and casts the rest after 10 seconds without new ore.
Speed: at 50 kW it smelts 3000 iron ore in about 3.5 minutes. The arc furnace needs roughly 50 minutes for that. Power is adjustable up to 1 MW. Full power needs heavy or super-heavy cable; cable protection keeps the network below 95 % of its weakest cable.
Four-page display, seven LEDs, IC10 with get/put and console commands. The kit comes from the autolathe (30 iron, 20 copper, 5 gold). The server and all players need the mod.

All labels on the models now appear in German or English depending on the game language – right away when you switch it in a running game. Device names stay after switching the language (works around a game bug).

Frequently asked
How is it different from the Electric Furnace?
The Electric Smelter is built for large amounts of pure ingots: whole stacks, a buffer per type, cast amount at the push of a button. It cannot make alloys. The Electric Furnace T1 and T2 replaces the furnace and advanced furnace and also casts alloys.
The smelter smelts but puts out no ingots.
In the default mode MANUELL (manual) it only casts when you press the red GIESSEN (cast) button, and only once the cast amount is reached. Lower the cast amount, press GIESSEN or switch to AUTO.
