Overview
Evaporation Chamber (StructureEvaporationChamber) in Stationeers: device, hash -1429782576, 50 W. With build steps, 44 IC10 logic values and connection…
The evaporation chamber works in the opposite direction to the Condensation Chamber: it turns liquid into gas. Its inner chamber holds 400 litres; data and power have their own ports; base draw is 50 W.
The ports according to the game code:
Inputis the liquid input. The chamber fills up to 10 % of its volume, i.e. 40 litres of liquid, at least 0.25 litres per tick.Input2is the heat exchange port. A gas network on it gives heat to the chamber without its gas flowing in. This is where a warm loop supplies the heat of vaporisation.- The gas output only receives something when the chamber pressure is above
Setting, and then only the surplus.
So Setting is a minimum chamber pressure in kPa, from 0 to 6,000, default 100. A low value lowers the boiling temperature; a high value delivers the gas at more pressure. You set it on the device in steps of 100 kPa, holding the key for small increments in steps of 1, or directly as a number with a switched-on labeller. With Open = 1 the chamber dumps its contents into the surroundings. You can measure Pressure, Temperature, TotalMoles and all fractions directly at the chamber.
The key point when evaporating is heat. According to the game data water needs 8,000 J per mole, nitrous oxide (Nitrous Oxide) 4,000, pollutant 2,000 and carbon dioxide 600 J per mole.
A calculation: one litre of water is about 55.6 mol. Evaporating it costs 55.6 · 8,000 ≈ 445,000 J – a 2 kW wall heater would need over 3.5 minutes for that, not counting heating it up to the boiling point. The other way round, evaporating liquid takes exactly this heat from its surroundings. At 100 kPa water only boils at about 384 K in the game.
It is built from the Kit (Phase Change Device) and four steel sheets, two each with the wrench and the welding torch. More on phases in Evaporating, condensing, freezing: using phases on purpose.
