Overview

Dial (StructureLogicDial) in Stationeers: device, hash 554524804. With build steps, 6 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.

With the dial you set a value by hand without changing the code – the target temperature of a room, say, or the target pressure of a chamber. It needs no power and has only one data port. It is built from the Kit (Logic Switch), like the lever and the button.

Its three logic values belong together:

Mode is the upper limit. You set it with the Screwdriver at two setting points: plus or minus 10 per click, with the C key held plus or minus 1, from 0 to 1000 in total. With the Labeller you type it in directly. Written through logic, Mode goes up to 999 at most.
Setting is the position, a whole number from 0 up to the upper limit. By hand you turn it in steps of one, with the C key held in steps of ten. When a chip writes Setting, the game cuts off the decimals, clamps it to 0 to Mode, and the knob visibly turns along.
Ratio is read only and exactly Setting ÷ Mode, so a fraction from 0 to 1.

Typical trap: according to the game data a freshly built dial has an upper limit of 0. It then cannot be turned at all, Setting stays 0, and Ratio is 0 ÷ 0 = NaN. So set the upper limit first.

For a range like 15 to 30 °C there are two ways: set the upper limit to 15 and add 15 in the program, or read Ratio and convert it with lerp target 15 30 ratio. Still check the value for limits in the program, for example with clamp, and catch NaN with bnan.
