Overview
Logic Reader (StructureLogicReader) in Stationeers: device, hash -345383640, 10 W. With build steps, 8 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.
The logic reader is the start of almost every logic chain without a chip. It fetches a single value from a device – for example Pressure from a Gas Sensor – and offers it as its own Setting.
How to set it up: Take the Screwdriver in your hand. The reader has two setting points. The first picks the device, the second the logic value. Every click moves one step forward, with the C key held (default binding) one step back. You can only pick devices on the data network at its input, sorted by their name, and only values the chosen device offers for reading. If you change the device, the value selection starts over and Setting is set to 0. The tooltip shows the current choice when you look at the reader.
It has a data input, a data output and its own power port and, according to the game data, draws 10 W. You can only read Setting. On switches it off.
When the target is missing: If no device is chosen, the device is no longer on the input network or it cannot deliver the value, the reader sets Error to 1 and stops updating. Setting then keeps its last value – it drops neither to 0 nor to NaN. A chain behind it therefore does not notice the failure on its own. The same applies without power: without its 10 W, Setting is no longer updated.
It is built from the Kit (Logic I/O). The same kit also builds the writer, batch reader and writer, slot reader and a few other variants.
A chip does not need the reader – it reads the device directly with lbn and gets NaN for a missing device instead of an old value. The reader pays off when you want to solve a small task with no program at all. A complete example is in Logic without a chip: reader, writer, memory, compare, math.
