What you learn today
- Quiz on limits, characters and ticks
This week was about the chip's limits and how to stay below them. For review:
- Limits: 128 lines (every line counts), 90 characters per line (with comment), 4096 characters in total (with line breaks). The long form is counted,
HASH("…")in full. - Saving characters: move long docs out, delete superfluous comments, shorten names only in moderation. The game version removes comments and blank lines.
- Saving lines:
selectand comparison instructions instead of jumps, subroutines, loops with name tables. - Instruction budget: 128 steps per tick, every line passed costs one – comments and labels too. Long work in portions, important things right after the
yield. - Fast patterns: batch instead of loops, read values once, only write on change.
You pass from 60 %.
