Overview
Flashlight (ItemFlashlight) in Stationeers: tool, hash -838472102. With recipe and 5 IC10 logic values.
The Flashlight is a tool with one battery slot (slot 0). It has two modes: 0 is Low Power, 1 is High Power. Both can be read and written via Mode, and it is switched on and off with On.
The game data list two consumption values for it, 20 and 30 – joules per tick (0.5 s) according to the game code. Switched on, it always draws the base value of 20 plus another 20 (Low Power) or 30 (High Power) depending on the level. Together that is 40 or 50 J per tick. A small Battery Cell (Small) with 36,000 J therefore lasts 7.5 or 6 minutes, a Battery Cell (Large) one hour or 48 minutes. Switch it off when you do not need it – it draws power in the belt too.
Why a flashlight at all? According to the game code the Space Helmet does have a lamp of its own (On on the helmet), but it draws 50 J per tick from the life support battery – as much as the flashlight on High Power, only from the cell that keeps you alive. The flashlight has its own cell and fits the Tool Belt as a tool. The headlamp (Headlamp) and the hard hat, on the other hand, go into the character's helmet slot, which you need for the space helmet outside.
An alternative for the night is the night vision goggles (Night Vision Goggles). They sit in their own glasses slot and can therefore be combined with the helmet; they need a battery too.
The flashlight is made in the Tool Manufactory from gold and copper. What else belongs in the tool belt is covered in Tools at a glance: which one you need for what.
