Overview
Fire Extinguisher (Reusable) (ItemReusableFireExtinguisher) in Stationeers: tool, hash -1773192190. With recipe.
The Fire Extinguisher (Reusable) is a tool with one slot for an Liquid Canister. The canister is its extinguishing agent, and you can refill or swap it.
According to the game code the filling has to meet two conditions before it extinguishes anything:
- It consists of at least 99 % non-flammable substances, for example nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water, steam or helium.
- It contains at least 1 mol of liquid, or its pressure is more than 100 kPa above the surroundings.
If both are met, one burst suppresses fire in the gas cell you are standing in and in all open neighbouring cells – for 10 ticks, so 5 seconds. It also removes up to 20,000 J of heat, but only while the air is warmer than 20 °C. Burning creatures in your cell are put out as well; according to the game data you may also use it on yourself.
One point is often overlooked: burning items do not go out from this alone. They keep burning until their cell has at most 0.3 mol of oxygen left or the pressure drops below 1.5 kPa.
One burst only lasts 5 seconds. So keep at it until fuel or oxygen is used up, or pump the air out. You can keep it in the Fire Extinguisher Storage. It is made in the Tool Manufactory from steel. How fire starts and spreads is explained in Fire and explosions: ignition, autoignition, extinguishing.
