Overview

Furnace (StructureFurnace) in Stationeers: device, hash 1947944864, 5 W. With build steps, 47 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.

The furnace melts ore and mixes the contents into ingots. Three things decide what comes out: the mix inside, the temperature and the pressure of the gas in the 1,000 litre chamber. Basic metals only need a minimum temperature from 100 kPa; alloys such as steel, solder or invar need a narrower window. It cannot make super alloys – that is what the Advanced Furnace is for.

This is how a batch works: an ore only melts once the chamber is at least as hot as its flash point – 373.15 K (100 °C) for metal ores, 323.15 K for coal, 273.15 K for ice. Every unit of mix makes one ingot. Ingots only come out with the mould open (Open = 1), though. If the mould is open while the mix fits no recipe, the furnace ejects the contents as slag. And while only the iron of a steel batch has melted, the recipe for iron ingots already fits. So keep the mould closed until everything has melted and the window is right.

The other logic values: Activate is the ignition button. It puts a 5 J spark into the chamber and melts one piece of ice from the import slot, then it drops back to 0 after 0.1 s. Mode reads 1 when contents and window currently match a recipe – but the value is only refreshed while the game is rendering the furnace, never on a dedicated server. For chips RecipeHash is more reliable: anything other than 0 means a recipe fits. Setting can be written, but has no effect on the basic furnace.

Gas flows without any regulation of its own: it flows in at the input as long as the pipe has more pressure, and out at the output as long as the pipe there has less, at most 2,000 kPa per tick. So you set the pressure through the pipes. Ores release gas while melting – iron ore, for example, 0.5 mol of carbon dioxide and 2 mol of pollutant per piece. If inside and outside differ by more than 60,795 kPa, the furnace can explode.

Connections: two slots, chute input and output, gas input, gas output, liquid output, data. Base draw 5 W. It is built in three stages: the kit, two iron sheets with the wrench, two more with the welding torch. More in Furnaces and alloys and in the alloy overview.
