Overview
Small Satellite Dish (StructureSmallSatelliteDish) in Stationeers: device, hash -2138748650, 10 W. With build steps, 23 IC10 logic values and connection…
The small satellite dish is how you get in touch with traders. It scans the sky for signals, and when enough power reaches a contact, the signal becomes a trader who can land. The dish is the cheapest way into trading.
Its power range is 50 to 200 W according to the game data. That fits the trader classes: utility and basic traders need 25 to 30 W at the contact, medium ones 180 to 200 W. Large traders and exotics need 6,000 to 8,000 W – too much for the small dish; only the medium (500 to 7,500 W) or the large dish will do.
It is aimed via Horizontal (0 to 360°) and Vertical (0 to 90°), the power via Setting. The full power only reaches the contact when the dish is aimed to within 2°; at 5° off it is 90 %, at 22.5° only 10 %. SignalStrength reports exactly this deviation in degrees, 0 being a direct hit. While a signal is still being resolved, SignalStrength, WattsReachingContact and MinimumWattsToContact report −1. Keep the dish still meanwhile: every movement and every change to Setting restarts the resolving. With TargetPadIndex you choose the landing pad: counting starts at 0 among the landing pads on the dish's data network, sorted by ReferenceId.
According to the game code it draws power in three stages: at rest the 10 W base draw, while resolving signals a tenth of Setting, and during contact the full value of Setting. At 200 W that is 20 W while searching and 200 W while connecting. The electronics printer makes the kit from 5 gold and 10 copper. It is built in three stages: kit, one iron sheet with the welding torch, one cable coil. How contact, landing pad and trading fit together is explained in Trading: satellite dish, trader classes, landing pad.
