Overview

Stirling Engine (StructureStirlingEngine) in Stationeers: device, hash -260316435, 1 W. With build steps, 47 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.

The Stirling engine burns nothing. It uses the difference between a hot and a cold side: the hot side is the gas flowing through its pipes from input to output, cooling comes from the air around it. Its slot holds a gas canister with the working gas. It delivers up to 8,000 W and needs only 1 W itself.

Anything warm that runs through a pipe anyway works as the hot side – for example the hot exhaust of a Gas Fuel Generator. The colder the surroundings and the hotter the pipe gas, the more is left over. Two logic values show how well it currently fits:

  • EnvironmentEfficiency: how well the surroundings serve for cooling.
  • WorkingGasEfficiency: how suitable the working gas in the canister is.

On top of that there are PowerGeneration, Pressure, Temperature and the gas fractions; On switches the engine.

Keep an eye on the pressure

The game data gives a limit of 11,000 kPa pressure difference. Above that the engine can explode. Do not top up the working gas at any pressure you like.

It is built in three stages: place the Kit (Stirling Engine), attach two steel sheets with the welding torch, insert two electronic parts. It occupies 3 × 3 × 2 small cells. A comparison with the other generators is in Generators compared: solid fuel, gas, Stirling, wind, RTG.

Example: address by name

Reads Temperature, shows the value on the IC housing and writes On. Name the device with the labeller first; devices with the same name are addressed together.
