Exploration 1.1.3: traders restock again, prices fixed

A player reported traders with no buy credit left and a timer stuck on the same number for hours. From 1.1.3 the offer timer runs again – and while checking the price list I fixed several wrong prices as well.

A player reported on Steam: all traders are out of buy credit, the terminal says "new offer in … min" – but even after four hours the black market still showed "27 min".

The reason: every second the server subtracted the elapsed time from the timer, but only stored the result in rare cases. The next second it started from the old value again. So the timer stood still – no new offer, and the buy limit of 3000 Cr per player never came back. This hit single player, hosts and dedicated servers alike. From 1.1.3 the server counts the timer down reliably and stores it every second, so it carries on after saving and loading. The terminal keeps counting between two updates, and when the buy limit is reached it says that it frees up with the next offer.

While checking the price list I also found errors in the pricing. Prices come from the game's trader data, but there a price often does not apply to a single piece:

  • Packs: trader ships sell seeds in packs of three and flares in packs of five. The mod took the pack price as the piece price. Now it is divided by the contents – pumpkin seeds cost 133 instead of 400 Cr each.
  • Bred varieties and boxes: a fast-growing potato with special genes costs 600 Cr at the genetics trader, a box of six nuclear batteries 400 Cr. These prices used to apply to every potato and every empty cardboard box. Now only regular offers count – a potato is worth 6 Cr, an empty cardboard box brings 1 Cr instead of 180.
  • Filters, flour & co.: for filters, flour, sugar, milk, cheese, soy oil and cocoa the fill level counted as a number of pieces. A full oxygen filter brought 1800 Cr, a catalytic filter 6000 Cr – and buying "2–4 filters" gave you a single filter with 2–4 % fill. Now a filter counts as one piece, as in the game, the buy price follows the fill level (full oxygen filter 18 Cr, half full 9 Cr), and "2–4 filters" are 2–4 full filters. Bars and cans now come in the stated number too, and large amounts of ore are split into several stacks.
  • Spare parts kit: it had a value of 0 and therefore never showed up at the engineer. Now it is on offer for about 40 Cr.
  • Reputation turned off: goods with a reputation requirement could then never be bought. Without reputation there is no reputation lock any more.

All other prices stay as they are. Traders in an older save get a new offer with the correct prices as soon as the save loads with 1.1.3, and the buy limit is free again. On the server console, erkundung handel shows the time left for every post. The price list is up to date.

The server and all players need the same version; on a dedicated server replace the Erkundung folder in its mods folder.
