Overview
Charcoal (ItemCharcoal) in Stationeers: ore, hash 252561409, stack 200. With recipe.
Charcoal is made from Biomass and contains 1 unit of carbon. It stacks up to 200.
How to make it:
- in the Arc Furnace: 1 s and 500 J per piece,
- in the furnace or advanced furnace: from 580 K and 100 kPa,
- from mixtures in the centrifuge, which turns carbon back into charcoal.
Its main job is Ingot (Steel): 25 % carbon, 75 % iron. Compared with Ore (Coal) charcoal has an advantage in the furnace: when melting, a piece only releases 3 mol of Pollutant and 3 mol of Carbon Dioxide, 6 mol in total instead of 13 mol for coal.
As a fuel it is weaker: its game value EnergyPerSecond is 20,000, coal's is 100,000. Like coal it has a low flashpoint of 323.15 K (50 °C) according to the game data and self-ignites from 373.15 K (100 °C).
In the recycler charcoal, like every ore, returns its full contents, i.e. 1 carbon per piece. The recycler table does list biomass, but for ores the recycler asks for the contents instead. How to make steel with it is in Making steel: step by step in the furnace.
