Overview
Gas Canister (Smart) (ItemGasCanisterSmart) in Stationeers: canister, hash -668314371, 64 L. With recipe.
The Gas Canister (Smart) has the same volume as the Canister, namely 64 litres. But at 20,265 kPa it withstands exactly twice the pressure.
What that gets you shows in the calculation at 75 % of the limit, about 15,200 kPa, and 20 °C: 15,200 · 64 / (8.3144 · 293.15) ≈ 399 mol. The normal Canister reaches about 200 mol at the same distance from its limit. For a long trip that means one canister instead of two.
It fits the same slots as the Canister – suit, jetpack, welding torch, Gas Tank Storage. In the game code it is a class of its own, a gas canister with a display. The two modes Mode0 and Mode1 from the game data are only placeholders: according to the code the canister sets its Mode itself to the fill level of its display, measured against the maximum pressure – 0 empty (below 10 %), 1 low (from 10 %), 2 medium (from 50 %), 3 high (from 80 %), 4 full (from 90 %) and 5 critical (from 99.9 %). If the display shows critical, the canister is at its limit – any warming takes it over.
The usual rule applies here too: pressure rises with temperature, in the same proportion as with the small Canister. A canister filled to the brim at 20 °C is about 14 % higher at 60 °C and bursts. So do not fill it to the edge.
It is made in the Hydraulic Pipe Bender from tier 2, mostly from steel. The counterpart for liquids is the Liquid Canister (Smart) with 18.4 litres and also 20,265 kPa.
