Overview
Ice (Volatiles) (ItemVolatiles) in Stationeers: ice, hash 1253102035, stack 50.
This ice is your fuel. According to the game data every piece contains 20 mol of Methane and 2 mol of Hydrogen – in the game methane is also called “volatiles”. It melts from 273.15 K (0 °C).
In the underground profile it has weight 25, and one extraction yields 5 to 9 pieces. Venus and Vulcan have none.
Both gases burn with Oxygen: methane and hydrogen both at a ratio of 2 : 1. One piece therefore needs 10 mol of oxygen for the methane and 1 mol for the hydrogen, 11 mol in total. One piece of Ice (Oxite) with 22.5 mol of oxygen is enough for two pieces. This is the mix you heat the furnace with.
According to the game data this ice self-ignites at 305.15 K (32 °C). Store it cool and never together with oxygen.
The easiest way to get gas from it is the Ice Crusher. How the furnace makes steel with that fuel is in Making steel: step by step in the furnace.
