Overview
Medium Convection Radiator (StructureMediumConvectionRadiator) in Stationeers: device, hash -1918215845. With build steps, 40 IC10 logic values and…
The medium convection radiator is a flat panel of 1.5 × 1.5 m with a gas input and a gas output. The gas flows through its inner volume of 200 litres and exchanges heat with the air around it on the way. It needs no power.
Its heat values according to the game data:
| Value | Convection radiator | for comparison: Pipe Convection Radiator |
|---|---|---|
| Convection | 9.38 | 1.05 |
| Radiation | 3.00 | 0.79 |
| Solar heating | 1.50 | 0.11 |
So it is built for worlds with an atmosphere: Mars, Venus, Vulcan, Europa. In vacuum convection drops out; there the Medium Radiator is the better choice.
Its logic list contains readings such as Temperature, EnergyConvected and EnergyRadiated. It has no data port, though, so no chip can reach these values, and Setting has no effect. According to the game code its contents mix every tick with the network at the input and the one at the output – it joins both like a thick piece of pipe. You measure the temperature with a Pipe Analyzer on the loop; a pump provides the flow.
As with every radiator: if the loop is colder than the surroundings, it heats instead of cooling. On Venus (737 K) it only cools a loop that is even hotter. On Vulcan the waste-heat loop has to stay above about 127 °C even at night.
It is built in two steps: place the Kit (Medium Radiator), then attach one steel sheet with the welding torch. The same kit also builds the radiation version. How heat loops are set up is covered in Heat exchangers and heat transport: pipe to pipe, gas to liquid.

This thing is not on the data network itself. Read its values through the slot it sits in, or through db if the chip is inside it.
