Overview
Stairs (StructureStairs4x2) in Stationeers: structure, hash 1405018945. With build steps.
The stairs connect two levels without climbing. They stand in the large 2 m grid and take two cells in a row: 4 m long, 2 m wide and, according to the game data, about 2.2 m high. They can be rotated around the vertical axis in all four directions.
They are built from the Kit (Stairs) in a single step. The kit comes from the Autolathe and, according to its recipe, costs 15 iron. The stairs are removed with the hand drill. According to the game data they need no frame underneath – so you can also stand them freely in a large room.
The same kit also builds stairs with rails: on both sides, left only or right only. For an open stairway at a gallery, the rail on the open side is the right choice.
A worked example on space: one staircase takes two cells of floor area, so 8 m². A Ladder only needs one wall face and costs 2 iron in its kit instead of 15. In tight bases the ladder is therefore often the better choice, in large halls the stairs.
Plan the opening in the floor of the upper level right away, otherwise the stairs end at a closed ceiling. More about the grid and building parts is in Building: frames, walls, windows, floors, grid.
