Overview

Large Tank (StructureTankBig) in Stationeers: device, hash -1606848156, 10 W, 50,000 L. With build steps, 73 IC10 logic values and connection diagram.

The large tank holds 50,000 litres, more than eight small tanks. It takes up 7 × 8 × 7 spots on the small grid, a good 3.5 × 4 × 3.5 m. In this old version it has a data port and gives Pressure, Temperature, TotalMoles and the gas fractions directly. Base draw is 10 W.

Since version 0.2.6143 the Kit (Tank) only builds in-line tanks. For the large tank you need five kits, and the result is the Large Tank with the same volume but no logic. The version on this page only exists in older saves. It equalises its inner volume with the pipe every tick, so pumps work more slowly on it than on an in-line tank.

For scale: at 10,000 kPa and 20 °C it holds n = 10,000 · 50,000 / (8.3144 · 293.15) ≈ 205,000 mol. A room of four cells needs about 1,330 mol at normal pressure – the tank could fill it a good 150 times.

Two things set it apart from the small tank: according to the game data it is flammable (flash point 373.15 K, autoignition 573.15 K), and it has a large surface through which it exchanges heat with its surroundings and warms up in the sun. Pressure rises with temperature. From a 60,795 kPa difference to the surroundings it takes damage, and once destroyed its whole contents end up in one cell.

If you want to avoid temperature swings, take the insulated version, see Tank Big (Insulated). Planning and safe filling are covered in Tanks and gas storage: sizes, insulation, safe filling.
