What you learn today
- Connect furnaces and fabricators
- Combine sorters and stores
- Spot gaps
Ore in, ingots out, parts made – and all of that without a store overflowing or a machine running empty. Months 8 and 9 showed you each station on its own. Today you connect them.

Connecting furnaces and fabricators
A smelter is a cycle: the arc furnace fills the ingot store, the fabricator empties it. The chip controls both through the stock level:
- Furnace on below 50 ingots, off from 200 – a hysteresis on a quantity. It is the same shape as for the heater, just with ingots instead of degrees.
- Only release the fabricator when there are enough ingots. Otherwise it starts a job it cannot finish.
slt tmp ingots I_TARGET
and furn furn tmp # below 200: keep going
slt tmp ingots I_MIN
or furn furn tmp # below 50: start
sbn ARC HASH("Huette") On furn
sge tmp ingots NEED
sbn LATHE HASH("Werkbank") On tmp
On is only the release here. The arc furnace only smelts once every stack gets its Activate 1 (day 225) – the smelter chip takes care of that.
Combining sorters and stores
In front of the store there is usually a sorter that separates ingots from ore and ice. For the chip one thing matters most: the store it counts must be exactly where the sorter delivers. Name both sides equally carefully, and count with Sum over all lockers with one name.
The most dangerous gap of the whole level: Sum without a matching device is 0. If the ingot store is missing, the chip sees “0 ingots”, starts the furnace – and the ingots end up on the floor. Check presence separately with PrefabHash and Average.
Spotting gaps
- Do you know which reagent mode returns the amount in the furnace and which the recipe?
- Can you count all 30 slots of a locker with a loop, even if it needs more than one tick?
- Do you know why a quantity hysteresis does not flutter although ingots arrive one by one?
Exercise
Task
Control the smelter through the ingot store:
- count all 30 slots of the lockers “Barren” and show the sum on the display “Barren”, −1 without a locker
- arc furnace “Huette” on below 50 ingots, off from 200, off without a locker
- autolathe “Werkbank” only on from 20 ingots
Hints
Hint 1
The loop over 30 slots needs more than 128 instructions – that is fine, the output only comes afterwards.
Hint 2
Presence: lbn ok LOCKER HASH("Barren") PrefabHash Average and snanz ok ok.
Hint 3
Furnace: hysteresis on the quantity, then and furn furn ok.
