Overview
Ore (Silicon) (ItemSiliconOre) in Stationeers: ore, hash 1103972403, stack 50. With recipe.
Silicon ore is fairly common (weight 40), and one extraction yields 3 to 5 pieces. With a mining time of 4, however, it takes four times as long as iron according to the game data. Every piece contains 1 unit of silicon.
From silicon the autolathe makes Glass Sheets (2 silicon per sheet) and Plastic Sheets (0.5 silicon per sheet). You need both for windows, solar panels, composite walls and every printer. In total silicon appears in almost 90 recipes, plus in the super alloy Ingot (Stellite) at 50 %.
In the Arc Furnace silicon is the most economical ingot: 3 s, but only 100 J. In the gas furnace, on the other hand, it needs at least 900 K – the highest temperature among the basic metals. When melting, every piece releases 1 mol of Nitrogen, 1 mol of Carbon Dioxide and 1 mol of Pollutant.
