According to the recipe data just over 25 recipes use stellite. Most of them are the heavy gas filters of the pipe bender, plus hardsuit parts, the gene splicer and gene stabiliser and the stellite glass sheets from the autolathe. One ingot counts as 1 unit of stellite.
The recipe only exists in the Advanced Furnace:
- 50 % silicon, 25 % silver, 25 % cobalt,
- from 1,800 K (1,527 °C) – hotter than any other alloy,
- 10,000 to 20,000 kPa.
The good news: at this heat you need little gas for the pressure. For 15,000 kPa at 1,900 K the 1,000 litre furnace only needs about 950 mol. The bad news: you only reach 1,800 K with a lot of fuel, and every extra degree raises the pressure too. Fill to 15,000 kPa at 1,800 K and you are at the 20,000 kPa limit by 2,400 K.
Add cobalt as Ore (Cobalt). One ingot uses 4 units of mix, i.e. 2 silicon, 1 silver and 1 cobalt ore. In the recycler an ingot only falls apart into 0.5 silicon, 0.25 silver and 0.25 cobalt – a quarter of that. More in Super alloys in the advanced furnace.
