Ingot (Constantan)

You need constantan for the printer mods at the latest: each of the four costs 8 ingots. According to the recipe data it appears in just under 40 recipes, most of them in the pipe bender (medium gas filters) and the electronics printer, plus rocket parts and the deep miner kit. One ingot counts as 1 unit of constantan.

The recipe in the furnace or advanced furnace:

• 50 % copper and 50 % nickel,
• from 1,000 K, open upwards,
• from 20,000 kPa, open upwards.

20,000 kPa is twenty times the pressure for steel. Worked example: at 1,000 K that needs n = 20,000 · 1,000 / (8.3144 · 1,000) ≈ 2,405 mol of gas in the 1,000 litre furnace – about eighteen times as much as for steel. Plan for a large gas supply and a pump that can push against high pressure. Gas pipes hold 60,795 kPa at most.

Since both limits are open upwards, constantan is forgiving despite the high pressure: more pressure and more heat do no harm. In the recycler a constantan ingot falls apart into 0.5 copper and 0.5 nickel. More in Furnaces and alloys.
