What you learn today
- Rocket, radio and alarms together
- Checklist
- Status board
The rocket has its on-board computer, this week the base gets its mission control. It sits on the ground, sees over the radio link what the rocket reports and raises the alarm when something is wrong. Everything from this week comes together: heartbeat, checklist, status panel, alarm centre.
What the rocket reports
The on-board computer writes four Logic Memories, mission control only reads them:
| Memory | Content |
|---|---|
| “Rak_Puls” | heartbeat, counts up |
| “Rak_Phase” | 0 ground, 1 flight, 2 work, 3 return flight, 4 landed |
| “Rak_Sprit” | fuel in percent of the starting supply |
| “Rak_Check” | check word from day 341 |
The setup on the ground
| Device | Prefab | Name |
|---|---|---|
| three LED displays | StructureConsoleLED5 | “MK_Phase”, “MK_Sprit”, “MK_Check” |
| two lights | StructureWallLight | “MK_Startfrei”, “MK_Verbindung” |
| klaxon | StructureKlaxon | “MK_Alarm” |
| button | StructureLogicButton | “MK_Quittung” |
The rules
- Link: if “Rak_Puls” does not change for 10 passes, the link is lost. Without a link “MK_Phase” and “MK_Sprit” show −1, and no check item counts as fulfilled.
- Checklist: “MK_Check” shows the first open item, “MK_Startfrei” is lit with a complete list – only in phase 0.
- Alarms: bit 0 = link lost, bit 1 = fuel below 30 % in flight (phases 1 to 3). A new alarm keeps the klaxon on until “MK_Quittung” is pressed.
Milestones
- Checklist and launch clearance.
- The status panel shows phase and fuel.
- Link loss raises the alarm, acknowledging stops the klaxon.
- The fuel alarm only applies in flight.
- If the heartbeat memory is missing, that counts as link loss.
Mission control controls nothing on the rocket. It shows and alarms. What the rocket does is decided by its own chip – that way it stays safe even when the radio link breaks.
Registers are scarce. The solution keeps using first as a scratch register after writing the display. That is fine as long as a comment says what is in it at that moment.
Project task
Task
Build mission control according to the rules above.
Milestones
- Milestone 1: checklist and launch clearance
- Milestone 2: status panel
- Milestone 3: link loss and acknowledgement
- Milestone 4: fuel alarm only in flight
- Milestone 5: heartbeat memory gone
Hints
Hint 1
Heartbeat as in the control room: seq, add, mul, then slt link age TIMEOUT and snanz against NaN.
Hint 2
Without a link select word link word 0 – then no item is fulfilled and the clearance is off.
Hint 3
Alarms as in the alarm centre: collect bits, find new ones with not/and, keep them pending with or, the button clears.
Quiz
2 questions. You pass from 60 % – the server does the grading.
