Overview
Ingot (Invar) (ItemInvarIngot) in Stationeers: ingot, hash -297990285, stack 500. With recipe.
You mainly need invar for heat engineering and late-game kits. According to the recipe data it appears in just under 50 recipes, a good half of them in the pipe bender: large gas filters, heat exchangers, radiators, powered vents. Add rocket parts and the kits for the deep miner and the combustion centrifuge. One ingot counts as 1 unit of invar.
The recipe in the furnace or advanced furnace:
- 50 % iron and 50 % nickel,
- 1,200 to 1,500 K,
- 18,000 to 20,000 kPa.
Both limits are closed at the top. The pressure window is only 2,000 kPa wide, and since pressure rises with temperature, every bit of reheating shifts the pressure too. Worked example: for 19,000 kPa at 1,350 K you need about 1,690 mol of gas in the 1,000 litre furnace. Heat the same charge to 1,500 K and the pressure climbs to about 21,100 kPa – too much.
So here in particular: set the temperature first, then the pressure. In the recycler an invar ingot falls apart into 0.5 iron and 0.5 nickel. More about the windows in Furnaces and alloys.
