The iron ingot is the material you use up the most. In printers and furnaces every ingot counts as 1 unit of iron, and according to the recipe data iron appears in almost 240 recipes – more than any other substance. Ingots stack up to 500.
You can make it in three ways:
- in the Arc Furnace: 1 s and 200 J per ingot,
- in the furnace or advanced furnace: from 800 K and 100 kPa,
- from mixtures via the centrifuge and smelting afterwards.
The first thing you usually make from it is Iron Sheets in the Autolathe: 1 iron gives 1 sheet. Then come the kits for furnace, printers and many structures.
For alloys the ingot beats the ore. It holds the same iron but releases no gas when melting. In Ingot (Steel) (75 %), solder and invar (50 % each) that keeps the furnace pressure manageable. In the recycler an iron ingot returns all of its iron.
