Ingot (Electrum)

Electrum is an alloy for electronics and later-game equipment. According to the recipe data it appears in almost 80 recipes, just under half of them in the electronics printer – among them the IC10 chip and all four printer mods with 8 ingots each. One ingot counts as 1 unit of electrum.

The recipe in the furnace or advanced furnace:

• 50 % gold and 50 % silver,
• from 600 K, open upwards,
• 800 to 2,400 kPa.

Of the alloys with a pressure requirement, electrum is the one with the lowest pressure. A worked example: for 1,600 kPa at 700 K you need n = 1,600 · 1,000 / (8.3144 · 700) ≈ 275 mol of gas in the 1,000 litre furnace. The upper limit of 2,400 kPa is the catch: heat a 1,600 kPa charge from 600 K to 900 K and it is already at 2,400 kPa. So keep the temperature just above 600 K.

Silver is rare, which often makes electrum the bottleneck for the printer mods. In the recycler an electrum ingot falls apart into 0.5 gold and 0.5 silver. More in Furnaces and alloys.
