In the game, a stack of ingots stops at 500. With this mod, 5000 fit on one stack, and the value can be adjusted in game, from 500 to 16,777,216. Fewer crates, fewer sorters, fewer clicks.
What changes
- Applies to every ingot: iron, copper, gold, silver, lead, nickel, silicon, steel, electrum, invar, constantan, solder, the superalloys, and also ingots from other mods.
- Furnaces cast correspondingly larger stacks. The game's Furnace casts up to the new stack size, and so do the Electric Furnace and the Electric Smelter.
- The setting takes effect immediately, also on ingots already lying around in the world. No restart needed.
- If another XML mod also sets a stack size for ingots, Barren Stacks wins.
Requirements
- Stationeers 0.2.6428, BepInEx 5.4.23.5, StationeersLaunchPad 1.0, see Installation
- Mod in the active mod pack
No parts, no recipe.
Setting
LaunchPad → mod settings, or the file BepInEx\config\dominik1199.barrenstacks.cfg:
| Key | Default | Allowed | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| MaxBarrenProStapel | 5000 | 500 to 16,777,216 | this many ingots fit on one stack |
Important: lowering the value and removing the mod
If the value is lowered or the mod is removed, larger stacks shrink to the new limit on the next load. The rest is gone. Split them up first and make a backup.
Example: a stack of 4000 steel, mod removed, game loaded. What's left is 500 steel. The other 3500 are history.
Why at most 16,777,216?
The game stores amounts as floating-point numbers (float). Up to 16,777,216 (2 to the power of 24), such a number can represent every whole number exactly. Above that, subtracting 1 becomes inaccurate, and a furnace that counts ingots down one by one would duplicate them. That's why 16,777,216 is the limit.
Multiplayer
- The server and all players need the mod.
- The server decides the stack size. Every player receives its value on joining, and changes during a running game go out to everyone immediately. Whatever a player sets on their own machine doesn't matter on the server.
IC10 and console
Barren Stacks has no devices of its own, so no IC10 values and no console commands. Of interest for IC10: the Stacker and the Refrigerated Vending Machine can only be set up to 500 on the dial, via IC10 you can go higher. So if you want to count off stacks larger than 500, write the value with a chip.
Known limitations
- Stacker and Refrigerated Vending Machine: up to 500 on the dial only, above that only via IC10.
- Ingots only. Ores, cables and pipes stay as they are.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Stacks stay at 500 | mod not in the active pack | check mod packs |
| Different stack size in multiplayer than configured | the server sets the value | change the value on the server |
| Fewer ingots after loading | value lowered or mod was missing when loading | restore a backup |
| Stacker only counts to 500 | limit of the dial on the device | set the value via IC10 |
