Electric Furnace T1 and T2 – Guide

Furnace and Advanced Furnace without gas, powered by electricity alone. Recipe detection, energy per ore, cables, IC10 and settings.

Last changed: Oct 7, 2026

v1.1.1 Electric Furnace T1 & T2

Two furnaces that need nothing but power. No fuel gas, no oxygen, no pressure management, no explosions, because there is no gas in the furnace at all. Ore in, flip the lever, ingots out. The furnace works out by itself which ingot the mix will produce.

Overview

Electric Furnace T1Electric Furnace T2
Based onFurnaceAdvanced Furnace
Power50 kW, needs heavy cable250 kW, needs super-heavy cable (500 kW)
Can makeall pure ingots, steel, electrum, invar, constantan, soldereverything from T1 plus astroloy, hastelloy, inconel, waspaloy, stellite
KitAutolathe: 30 iron, 20 copper, 5 goldElectronics Printer (tier 2): 40 steel, 40 copper, 10 gold, 20 electrum, 10 solder, 10 silicon
3000 iron oreapprox. 3.5 minapprox. 42 s

The T1 kit only needs pure metals. So you can start without any gas furnace at all and cast the steel and alloys for the T2 in the T1.

Requirements

  • Stationeers 0.2.6428, BepInEx 5.4.23.5, StationeersLaunchPad 1.0, see Installation
  • Mod in the active mod pack
  • The right cable: heavy for T1, super-heavy for T2

Setup

  1. Print the kit and build it. Like the Advanced Furnace, the T2 sits on a frame.
  2. Connect power. On the T1 the cable goes to the former data port, which now carries power and data. On the T2 it goes to the power port.
  3. The cable has to sit directly at the port. Without a piece of cable at the port, the furnace does not request any power and reports "No power cable".

The pipe connections on the furnace have no function. The T2 needs no pumps; buttons 3 and 4 do nothing.

Operation

  1. Put ore or ingots into the input, by hand or via chute. It melts immediately, no heat required.
  2. Mold lever closed = collect ore. Same as the original: fill everything in first.
  3. Lever open = cast. The furnace collects power for the entire melt and then casts it all at once, up to the full stack size.
  4. Look into the viewing window: recipe, power per ore, progress, time remaining. If the mix doesn't fit, it shows what is missing, for example "Astroloy still missing: 10 copper".

Whatever doesn't fit gets thrown out

Anything that can't be cast (any more) is ejected completely after 5 seconds with the lever open: as the matching ore (coal comes back as coal) or as slag, in full stack size. The Activate button does this immediately. Ice, tools and everything else are passed through unchanged.

Mixes

  • The recipes come straight from the game. Recipes from XML mods, such as the Furnace Mod, work automatically too.
  • Ratio not quite exact? The furnace casts as much of the matching recipe as possible and the rest individually afterwards. 31 iron and 10 coal become 40 steel and 1 iron. Can be switched off.
  • As in the original, superalloys need 4 ore per ingot. Power is counted per ore.
  • Recipes that need gas in the furnace (Solid Fuel) don't work in the Electric Furnace.

Energy and time

The hotter and higher-pressure a recipe would be in the gas furnace, the more power each ore costs: 8.75 kJ per 1000 K plus 85 J per MPa. More power means faster; double the power halves the time.

3000 ore to …Energy per oreT1 (50 kW)T2 (250 kW)
Iron7 kJapprox. 3.5 minapprox. 42 s
Steel8 kJapprox. 4 minapprox. 48 s
Invar12 kJapprox. 6 minapprox. 72 s
Waspaloy7.75 kJ–approx. 46 s

Like every device in the game, it is billed per tick of 0.5 seconds: a 50 kW furnace gets 50 kJ per tick.

Power and grid

  • Automatic throttling: the furnace only takes as much power as the grid has to spare. So it won't bring down your whole grid. It does not protect against cables that are too thin.
  • Setting the power manually: on the T2 with buttons 1 and 2, on both via IC10 through Setting (0–100 %).
  • 2 % of the power heats the room.

Example: cast as soon as there is enough for a full stack

The T1 is named "Ofen" (furnace). As soon as a recipe is detected and 500 ingots are possible, the chip opens the mold. When there is nothing left to cast, it closes it again so new ore gets collected.

The kit costs are in GameData/stromofen.xml in the mod folder.

Multiplayer

New devices: the server and all players need the mod. See Multiplayer.

Known limitations

  • No recipes that need gas in the furnace (Solid Fuel).
  • The T1 does not cast superalloys unless T1Superlegierungen is on.
  • AutoDrosseln protects the grid from overload, but it doesn't stop a cable that is too thin from burning out.
