Mining Robot – Guide

Robot, charging station and tracker – setup, linking, program, ore scanner, storage with cooling, chutes and ice melter, three IC10 chips, IC10 link, memory map, example scripts and troubleshooting.

v1.0.1 Mining Robot

A programmable mining robot on the AIMeE chassis with its own charging station. It finds ore and ice, drills it, brings it home, charges and sets off again – until the area is empty, once or continuously.

Requirements

  • Stationeers 0.2.6428, BepInEx 5.4.23.5, StationeersLaunchPad 1.0, see Installation
  • Mod in the active mod pack
  • Multiplayer: server and all players with the same version

Quick start

  1. In the Electronics Printer (tier 2) make Kit (Mining Robot) and Kit (Robot Charging Station), plus a Robot Tracker (tier 1).
  2. Place the station (C + mouse wheel rotates); the front faces where the robot should dock – keep 1 m free there. Connect power + data at the back, bottom left.
  3. Hold the robot kit, keep the right mouse button pressed: the robot stands in front of you. Put it in front of the station and press LINK.
  4. Insert the main battery and up to three emergency batteries into the battery bay on the deck – they stand upright (normal battery cells, also large and nuclear).
  5. START on station or robot: it mines around the station. PROGRAM opens the window.

Where to find …

WhatWhere
Take ore/ice out of the stationSTORAGE button on the station → "Take" puts a stack into your free hand (hands full: into the hand tray)
Map of all robotsMAP button on the station, right-click with the tracker in hand or console roboter karte
IC10 link (edit a robot chip at the computer)IC10 button on the station – status, switch and guide in one tab
All settingsPROGRAM button (tabs robot, station, storage, IC10, map)

IC10 link step by step: 1. Connect the station to the network with a data cable (back left, POWER + DATA). 2. Build a computer on the same data network and insert the IC Editor Motherboard. 3. IC10 button on the station: "Switch IC10 link on", choose target chip 1–3, "Apply". 4. At the computer pick the station in the drop-down and press Import – the code of the robot chip appears. 5. Edit and press Export – the robot takes it over at once (docked or within radio range).

The robot

Ore scanner down to bedrock (about y = 2) with a list of finds; core drilling from above: 3 s plus 0.6 s per metre of new depth at the borehole – further ores within 2 m of a hole are quick; the borehole is refilled, so no pits open at the surface. Returns when the storage is full (default 90 %), at 15 % main battery, or earlier when the main battery only covers the way home (distance × 1.5) plus one drilling and 5 % reserve. At the station it unloads and charges, and leaves only when the main battery reaches the departure threshold and all emergency batteries are full again. It drives around the station, chutes, pipes, silo and anything tall within 4.5 m and always docks from the front; ore right beneath them is left alone. Main battery flat → emergency battery, emergency return, distress (light, sound, message). Stuck after 3 failed attempts to free itself → distress.

Three IC10 chips on the drill head run at the same time; the LED behind each: green running, red error, yellow halted.

Packing up: with the hand drill the robot turns back into the Mining Robot kit. Batteries, chips and stored ore drop next to it, the station link is released; unpacked it starts with a fresh program and name.

The charging station

Connections: back bottom left power + data, back bottom right liquid F, back chutes A (middle right), B (middle left), C (top right), on the right side (left seen from the front) gas G1–G3.

Storage: ore into the ore store (8 slots), ice into the ice store (6 slots), kept 20 K below the lowest melting point with power (pull-down 300 W, holding 15 W + 0.4 W per K to ambient). Without power the station warns, the store warms up slowly (insulation, default 60 min), and ice only melts when store and ambient are above its melting point – at 300 K ambient water ice stays solid for about 30 min.

Outputs: choose the sorts for chutes A/B/C and the hand tray. Default: ore to A, ice to B. Ore without a connected output goes to the collect target (default hand tray), ice never does. A full assigned output makes the sort wait (jam LED red).

Ice melter: ice ticked "M" is melted instead of output. Each pipe outlet gets one substance (or "rest"). Ice is only melted when every resulting substance has its outlet below the pressure limit (at most 90 % of the pipe limit). Amounts as in the game: water ice = 20 mol water + 5 mol nitrogen per piece – water needs F and nitrogen a gas outlet. Output temperature default 15 °C; the heat costs power.

Programming desk: insert a chip, write it with the computer (IC editor motherboard on the station's data network) or the laptop, CHIP selects the target (1–3), SEND transfers it – docked or within radio range (default 300 m). IC10 link (IC10 button, IC10 tab – steps above under "Where to find …"): the computer shows and edits the target chip inside the robot directly. The chip in the desk does not run. Buttons below the display: PROGRAM, START, HOME, ON/OFF – below them STORAGE, MAP, IC10 (open the window on the matching tab). Storage by hand: the STORAGE tab lists every ore and ice slot; "Take" moves a whole stack into your free hand (owner only, at the station).

IC10

Robot chips: db = robot, d0 = home station, d1 = main battery, d2–d4 = emergency batteries; lbn/sbn = data network of the home station (within radio range). Robot by name from any IC housing on a station network: lbn r0 HASH("MRMiningRoboter") HASH("Name") Ratio 0. Commands (Mode, Activate, put address 28) act like a button press: a chip writing the same value every tick does not override the emergency return or "stuck" – there only a changed value (or START) counts. Ore filter bits (Setting = 2^sort): iron 4, water ice 8, gold 16, coal 32, copper 64, uranium 128, nickel 256, lead 512, silver 1024, silicon 2048, oxite 4096, volatiles 8192, cobalt 32768, nitrice 65536; all 114684, ice only 77832. The memory map (get/put) is the same as in the German table above and in the console: roboter memory.

Example scripts

Ladestation_Leitstand.ic10 (work only with enough base power, alarm lamp, LED, oxygen tank full → G1 off), Roboter_Chip1_Arbeitsbereich.ic10 (area grows and moves on), Roboter_Chip2_Bedarf.ic10 (mines what the station lacks), Roboter_Chip3_Energie.ic10 (more careful with fewer reserves).

The example scripts to copy (comments in German, paste them in game as they are):

Troubleshooting

Robot does not leave: battery flat, no station linked, or reserves not yet full. "Station full": connect a chute or empty the hand tray. Melter waiting: every substance of the ice needs an outlet (water ice: water at F and nitrogen at G). Chip LED red: error in that chip – the others keep running. SEND fails: desk chip error-free, robot docked or in radio range, chip in the robot's target slot?
