Power without fuel. The Isotope Generator (RTG) supplies its rated power permanently, the Isotope Generator Creative supplies whatever the network demands. Both respect the cable limit: they never offer more than the weakest cable in the network carries, so no cable burns out. Both have their own 3D models (core with cooling fins, warning stripes and radiation sign, plus a control cabinet), a display with three pages, LEDs, a governor and full IC10 control. Model labels, displays, buttons and device names appear in German or English, depending on the game language.
Overview
| Device | Output | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Isotope Generator (RTG) | up to 800 W permanently, adjustable from 100 to 5000 W | Electronics Printer, tier 2 |
| Isotope Generator Creative | demand + 25 % + 5 kW reserve, no upper limit | spawn menu only |
Neither needs fuel, and neither produces exhaust or waste heat. They never offer more than 95 % of the weakest cable in the network.
Requirements
- Stationeers 0.2.6428, BepInEx 5.4.23.5, StationeersLaunchPad 1.0, see Installation

Building and recipes
| Kit | Machine | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Kit (Isotope Generator) | Electronics Printer, tier 2 | 20 steel, 10 gold, 10 silicon, 10 invar, 5 electrum (120 s, 2000 J) |
| Kit (Isotope Generator Creative) | – | no recipe, spawn menu only |
The creative kit has no recipe on purpose.
Setup
- Floor-standing unit 1 × 0.5 m, 1 m high (2 × 1 × 2 small cells). It fits on a frame.
- The core with cooling fins sits on the left, the control cabinet with display and buttons on the right.
- Ports at floor level: power outlet at the back of the core (red ring), data port at the front below the cabinet (green ring).
- The unit only rotates around the vertical axis.
- A newly built unit switches itself on once and starts supplying right away. After that the main switch decides.
The creative RTG has the same shape, ports and controls. It is violet with gold accents and carries a CREATIVE plate.
Cable protection
Every tick each RTG checks the weakest cable or fuse in its network and offers at most 95 % of it (setting KabelReserveProzent). From that it subtracts what the other generators in the same network offer in that tick: solar panels, wind turbines, transformers, battery outputs or generators from other mods.
| Weakest part in the network | carries | RTG offers at most |
|---|---|---|
| cable | 5 kW | 4.75 kW |
| heavy cable | 100 kW | 95 kW |
| super heavy cable | 500 kW | 475 kW |
| Extreme Cable | 10 MW (default) | 9.5 MW |
| network made only of Power Cable+ | unlimited | unlimited |
| fuse | its trip limit | 95 % of it |
For the survival RTG with 800 W any cable will do. The protection matters for the creative RTG and wherever many generators share a thin network.
- Several RTGs in one network share the remainder in turn. Even together they stay below the limit.
- Exception: if the other generators alone already offer more than the full cable limit, the RTG can no longer raise the cable flow. The typical case is the output of a charged battery in the same network. Then the RTG supplies normally instead of waiting until the battery is empty.
Operation
| Control | Effect |
|---|---|
| Main switch (rotary switch) | ON / OFF |
| MODE | AUTO (full power on demand) or MANUAL |
| - and + | change the power limit, switches to MANUAL |
| Arrow buttons | change the display page |
- Survival: - and + move in 10 % steps of the rated power. When you switch to MANUAL, the limit starts at the rated power.
- Creative: - and + move in steps of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 kW and so on up to 10 MW. When you switch to MANUAL, the limit starts at the largest step below what the cable currently allows, at least 1 kW.
- In AUTO the creative RTG offers the demand plus 25 % and 5 kW. The reserve makes sure that consumers you switch on get power right away.
Display
Three pages, switched with the arrow buttons:
- Overview: output, limit with reason (core, governor or cable), demand, cable limit, mode and state.
- Core: for the survival RTG the isotope (Pu-238), rated power and operating hours. For the creative RTG the weakest cable in the network with its limit and what other generators offer.
- Statistics: generated kWh, operating hours, peak output.
States on the display: OFF (main switch), NO CABLE at the power outlet, CABLE FULLY USED (other generators), LIMITED by cable, LIMITED by governor, SUPPLYING, READY.
Looking at the unit shows output, limit, mode, demand, the weakest part in the network and the state.
LEDs
| LED | Meaning |
|---|---|
| RUN | switched on |
| SUPPLY | power is flowing |
| LIMIT | the network gets less than it wants because cable or governor limit it |
| FAULT | no cable at the power outlet, or the cable is fully used by other generators |
| AUTO / MAN | governor setting |
| DATA | data port connected |
While running, the glowing slots between the cooling fins light up.
IC10

|---|---|---|
| Isotope Generator (RTG) | StructureRtgIsotop | -354603149 |
| Isotope Generator Creative | StructureRtgIsotopKreativ | -222389786 |
| LogicType | Meaning |
|---|---|
| On | main switch |
| Mode | governor: 0 AUTO, 1 MANUAL |
| Setting | power limit in W. Writing switches to MANUAL. In AUTO it reads the rated power (survival) or what is possible now (creative, at most 10 MW) |
| Maximum | possible now: rated power or cable limit |
| PowerGeneration | supplied power in W |
| Ratio | survival: share of the rated power. Creative: share of what is possible now |
| Error | 1 = no cable, or the cable is fully used by other generators |
On, Mode and Setting are writable. Writing a power to Setting means MANUAL – Mode 0 switches back to AUTO. If the creative RTG has no limit at all (network made only of Power Cable+, KreativHoechstW 0), Maximum reads 1,000,000,000.
| Address (get/put) | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0 | generated energy in kWh |
| 1 | operating hours |
| 2 | cable limit in W (weakest cable or fuse), -1 = no network or no limit |
| 3 | network demand in W |
| 4 | display page 0–2 (W) |
Writable addresses are marked (W). clr resets the statistics (kWh, hours, peak).
Example: show the output, report a fault
The generator is named "Isotop", a small LED display "RTG". The display shows the supplied power in kW, green while running, red on a fault.

Console commands
Open the console with F3. rtg status works everywhere, rtg reset only on the host or server, or in single player.
| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
rtg status | all RTGs with output, limit, mode, demand, weakest cable, state, kWh and hours |
rtg reset | reset the statistics (kWh, hours, peak) of all RTGs |
rtg reset nah | reset only the statistics of the nearest RTG |
Configuration
File: BepInEx\config\dominik1199.rtg.cfg, or through the mod settings in LaunchPad. The server's values apply.
| Key | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| SurvivalLeistungW | 800 | rated power of the survival RTG in W, 100 to 5000. The game's RTG has 800 W. |
| KreativHoechstW | 0 | maximum power of the creative RTG in W, 0 = unlimited. The cable limit always applies. |
| KabelReserveProzent | 95 | the RTGs offer at most this percentage of the weakest cable or fuse, 50 to 100 |
Multiplayer
New devices: the server and all players need the mod. The server calculates, the players display. See Multiplayer.
Known limitations
- The RTG only limits its own offer. If other generators alone already offer more than the cable carries, it supplies normally. If the network then draws more than the cable carries, the cable burns – with or without the RTG.
- In MANUAL the governor of the creative RTG goes up to 10 MW. In AUTO only the cable and
KreativHoechstWlimit it. - The survival RTG can only be throttled in 10 % steps of its rated power.
- There is no recipe for the creative RTG.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Display: NO CABLE at the power outlet, LED FAULT | no cable at the power outlet | connect a cable at the back of the core (red ring) |
| Display: CABLE FULLY USED (other generators) | other generators already use the whole cable limit | lay a heavier cable or spread the generators over several networks |
| Creative RTG only supplies 4.75 kW | normal cable in the network | run the whole network in heavier cable |
| LED LIMIT, display: LIMITED by governor | governor is set to MANUAL | press MODE (AUTO) or set Mode = 0 |
| LED LIMIT, display: LIMITED by cable | the network wants more than the cable allows | heavier cable, see Cable protection |
| Display: OFF (main switch) | main switch off | turn the rotary switch on or set On = 1 |
| Governor jumps to MANUAL after IC10 | Setting was written | intended; Mode = 0 switches back to AUTO |
| No recipe for the creative RTG | intended | get the kit from the spawn menu |
rtg reset answers "Nur auf dem Host/Server …" (host/server only) | command run on a client | run it on the host or server, or in single player |
